Tattoo Aftercare
We make sure you are properly taught aftercare so your new body art looks and stays the best it can be.
Traditional Heal

1 to 2 hours after your appointment, wash the tattoo gently with cool water and unscented soap.

Wash it a second time before bed.

Wash a third time the following morning.

Pat it dry with a clean towel.

The day after your tattoo, you can begin to lotion with unscented lotion. We recommend Lubriderm unscented.
Second Skin Heal
For a second skin, Tegaderm or Saniderm bandage:
Do not touch it for 4 to 5 days.
Do not pop any fluid bubbles.
Do not push the fluid out the sides.
If you see any fluid leaking out, remove the bandage.
If you see a red rash or irritation causing issues around the bandage, remove it, as it could be an allergy to the adhesive.
Water, Sun and Exercise
It is fine to shower with the tattoo. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT bathe with your tattoo. NO hot tubs, baths, pools, swimming in the salty sea.
Yes, as long as you protect your tattoo. Your tattoo should not get sun exposure for at least 2 weeks as the skin heals. You can get sun but your tattoo should stay covered by a shirt or pants. Always use sunscreen (but not within 2 weeks of a fresh tattoo).
That really depends on the tattoo and where you got it. Check with your artist to be sure.
Piercing Aftercare
We tell you how to take care of your piercing before you leave, and give you an instruction sheet if you need one. Jewellery changes are free, with your own jewellery or ours. Any questions or concerns about a piercing, please call the shop at (403) 474-6660. We are always happy to help.
Tattoo Aftercare Questions
Yes, if it is something we did wrong. Come in within a month of your tattoo and show us the problem, and there is no charge. If the tattoo was damaged while it healed, the touch-up is charged. A free touch-up is a fix, not a new tattoo session.
Usually 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the tattoo and the person. We explain how to take care of it at the end of your appointment, and the steps depend on how it is wrapped: second skin or a normal bandage. Follow your artist's instructions and it should heal great. Keep it out of the sun for at least 2 weeks, and call Calgary Tattoo Company at (403) 474-6660 with any questions.
2 weeks. Wait 2 weeks before hot tubs or pools. It is fine to shower with a new tattoo, but no baths, hot tubs, pools or swimming in the sea while it heals.
